Old Penny Oak Charm Vending Candy Nut Machine Metal Glass

Old Penny Oak Candy vending machine It took me awhile to research this because it is embossed on the top "UNIVERSAL VENDORS OF ST. LOUIS MO. "CHARM MASTER". I was FINALLY able to figure out that it was actually manufactured FOR "Universal Vendors" by the Oak Manufacturing Company (who apparently regularly manufactured "private label machines" like this one for other manufacturors or distributors across the country. The acorn on the flap and the acorn 1 cent label is what clued me in to learn this. Oak Manufacturing Company was established in 1948. The early Penny (1 cent) Oak machines (like this one) had GLASS globes. Oak switched to plastic globes in the 50's and 60's. So this one would have to date to the 40's or VERY early 50's. The upper and lower housing is metal. The globe on this one appears to be ALL original because the glass is really THICK and very "swirley". The glass is also CRYSTAL clear with no chips or cracks. Also this machine has the more collectible pointed (some call it "teardrop") chute (as opposed to those with a square chute). AND it comes with its' original key (which does work). It is bright yellow and this appears to be the Original color. These machines were manufactured to vend all sorts of candy and nuts so there are a LOT of things you could put in it. I have no idea what was originally in it because it's been cleaned up inside. It is a more collectible PENNY machine too (can't buy ANYTHING for a penny these days!)! I put several pennies in it and it works beautifully. I've provided SEVERAL high resolution pictures for your inspection below. AND I've shown how it disassembles. A few chips to the paint and the little spring looking mechanisms have some rust on them but it doesn't seem to affect anything and the mechanism turns and dispenses well. All I had handy were some (coated) jelly bean like candies so I dropped a bunch down in there.......put in a penny.....turned the handle.......and got a handful! NEAT Piece! Measures 15 1/2" Tall.....6" wide & 6" deep. FYI: EBAY has MOVED the "Ask Seller a Question" link to the BOTTOM left-hand side of most listing pages.
